Performance Review Panels

The Nurses and Midwives Amendment (Performance Assessment) Act 2004 commenced on 2 April 2007.

When the Board decides to require a performance review, it is to appoint three persons to sit as the Performance Review Panel for that particular review. Two of the three persons are to be nurses if the performance review concerns a nurse or are to be midwives if the performance review concerns a midwife, and one is to be a lay person (that is, a person who is not a nurse or midwife). One of the members of the Panel is to be appointed by the Board as chairperson of the Panel.

Panel members will be drawn from the lists of persons who have previously expressed interest in sitting on the Nurses and Midwives Tribunal, Professional Standards Committees and Impairment Panels and similar committees. Any other person interested in being considered for appointment to Performance Assessment Panels may submit an expression of interest, curriculum vitae and supporting references for consideration.

Further information regarding Panels is available in the Reference Manual published by the Board.
