(Sessional Appointment)
The Nurses and Midwives Amendment (Performance Assessment) Act was passed by Parliament in 2004. The Act has not yet commenced and processes are not yet being implemented. An article about Performance Assessment appeared in the November 2005 issue of nmb: update.
In preparation for commencement of the Act suitably qualified and experienced registered nurses and registered midwives are invited to apply to be included in a list of potential assessors. When an assessment is to be undertaken, an assessor, appropriate to the particular context of practice, will be invited to undertake the assessment and provide a report to the Board. Assessors will be appointed for individual assessments.
Expressions of interest are currently being sought from registered nurses and registered midwives but particularly those with clinical experience in the following areas:
· Medical · Surgical · Paediatrics · Rehabilitation · Community Health · Drug and Alcohol
It is anticipated that the selected registered nurses and registered midwives will have qualification and / or experience in the assessment of students and / or clinicians.
As a guide, assessors will be remunerated around the top rate of a clinical nurse consultant. Where an employer releases a nurse or midwife to undertake work for the Board (including persons employed in the NSW public sector) remuneration may be paid to the employer. It is estimated that each assessment will take 2½ working days for preparation, assessment and preparation of the report.
Expressions of interest, accompanied by a curriculum vitae and contact details for two professional referees, may be submitted to the Registrar, Nurses and Midwives Board, PO Box K599, Haymarket NSW 1238 or may be emailed to mail@nmb.nsw.gov.au
Enquiries may be directed to Mr Alan Brown, Professional Officer, on telephone 02 9219 0241 (direct line). |
