Welcome
is the statutory authority responsible for the registration of nurses and midwives, the authorisation of nurse practitioners and midwife practitioners, and the enrolment of nurses in
New South Wales, a State of Australia. The Board is established under the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991.
The objects of the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 are:
* to protect the health and safety of the public by providing mechanisms
to ensure that nurses and midwives are fit to practise, and
* to provide mechanisms to enable the public and employers to readily
identify nurses and midwives who are registered or enrolled.
