Nurses Practice Committee
Following amendment to the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 commencing on 1 August 2004, the Nurses Practice Committee was established under section 12A(1)(a). The functions of the committee are stated under section 12A(2) to be the provision of advice to the Board in relation to the accreditation of courses of education and training, and matters of education generally, in connection with the registration and enrolment of nurses; and such other functions in connection with the practice of nursing as the Board may from time-to-time determine. Schedule 1A to the Act provides the procedure for meetings of Practice Committees.
Members of the Nurses Practice Committee are appointed under section 12A(3) and deputies appointed under section 4 of Schedule 1A of the Nurses and Midwives Act.
Membership of the Nurses Practice Committee according to the relevant section of the Act, consists of:

1 enrolled nurse engaged in nursing in New South Wales |

1 nurse nominated by the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses |

such other members as the Board may from time-to-time determine. |
