Recognised Courses for Nurse Practitioner Authorisation

Registered nurses and registered midwives may undertake a course that is recognised by the Nurses and Midwives Board.

In order to be eligible for authorisation to practise as nurse practitioners or midwife practitioners, graduates of recognised education programs are required to: 
  • submit appropriate documentary evidence of successful completion of the recognised education program; and
  • satisfy requirements for evidence of current registration as a nurse and/or midwife (as relevant) and evidence of 5000 hours advanced practice during the last six years, appropriate for the relevant broad area of practice.
