Midwives Practice CommitteeFollowing amendment to the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 commencing on 1 August 2004, the Midwives Practice Committee was established under section 12A(1)(b). The functions of the committee are stated under section 12A(2) to be the provision of advice to the Board in relation to the accreditation of courses of education and training, and matters of education generally, in connection with the registration of midwives; and such other functions in connection with the practice of midwifery as the Board may from time-to-time determine. Schedule 1A to the Act provides the procedure for meetings of Practice Committees.
Members of the Midwives Practice Committee are appointed under section 12A(3) and deputies appointed under section 4 of schedule 1A of the Nurses and Midwives Act.
