HomeEducation Education Institutions which wish to conduct approved courses may apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board for recognition of the institution and for approval of the particular program of education. National Registration and Accreditation The Council of Australian Governments (COAG), whose membership includes the Premier of New South Wales, has announced that the registration of health professionals and the accreditation of courses will be undertaken on a national basis by July 2010. It is therefore anticipated that the authority of the Nurses and Midwives Board will not continue beyond that date. Therefore, depending on decisions of Government and subject to legislation which is yet to be passed, the recognition of courses and undertakings to register / authorise / enrol persons who complete recognised courses may cease in a shorter period than that which the Nurses and Midwives Board has approved.
