Code of Professional Conduct
Section 43 of the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 provides that the Board may establish one or more codes of professional conduct setting out guidelines that should be observed by nurses and midwives in their professional practice.
In April 2003, the Nurses and Midwives Board "established" the Code of Professional Conduct for Nurses in Australia (published by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council) in accord with the provisions of section 43.

You are permitted to download and reproduce or copy the Code for personal use. Requests for any other form of use or purchase of the Code should be referred to the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC).
New codes of professional conduct have been developed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council. The Nurses and Midwives Board will be working to satisfy the requirements of section 43 of the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 in order to obtain approval of the Minister for Health for the new codes to be established in New South Wales.
