HSC Board of Studies endorsed Nursing Course for credit in Bachelor of Nursing



For students commencing from January 2006 to December 2011

This is a non-award course undertaken by students studying in year 12 of school studies in preparation for the Higher School Certificate.  Prior to enrolling in this non-award course, students must successfully complete the TAFE component.

Students who complete this course are eligible to be granted credit for two theoretical units in the Bachelor of Nursing course conducted by the Australian Catholic University. 

Content of this course is similar to the unit Contexts of Nursing 1 in the Bachelor of Nursing course. 

Content of the non-award unit Health Care and Academic Communication would give credit for the elective unit Legal Issues in Health Care in the Bachelor of Nursing course.

Module 1851E     Infection Control Policies and Procedures   (25 hours)
Module 1872M    Assist with Client/Patient Movement  (20 hours)
Module 3223A    Senior First Aid  (18 hours)
Module 3232FB   Communicate Appropriately with Clients and Colleagues  (40 hours)
Module 3232NC  Participate in the Work Environment  (30 hours)

University component in Year 12 of High School
HSC Nursing 1 : Developing Beginning Nursing Skills  (30 hours)
HSC Nursing 2 : Healthcare and Academic Communication  (30 hours)
Clinical practicum  (60 hours)
