The Nurses and Midwives Board is the statutory authority responsible for the registration of nurses and midwives, the authorisation of nurse practitioners and midwife practitioners, and the enrolment of nurses in 
New South Wales, a State of Australia. The Board is established under the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991.

The objects of the Nurses and Midwives Act 1991 are:
* to protect the health and safety of the public by providing mechanisms
   to ensure that nurses and midwives are fit to practise, and
* to provide mechanisms to enable the public and employers to readily 
   identify nurses and midwives who are registered or enrolled.
